Sultry, bombastic, genre-bending merge of post-industrial and torrid post-rock , BAD BATH takes you on a ride whilst examining adulthood, essentialism, existential angst, self-acceptance and connectivity.
Says Priess: “‘Bad Bath’ was the fourth song I wrote under the name STUNTDRIVER. Although my intention was to venture into more-electroclash musical territory with the project, I was craving the return to an uptempo-punk-like anthem. Clearly with the song, I wanted to examine habits, patterns and behavior that no longer serve us, in a campy and visceral way. This was the non-linear canvas that was presenting itself for the examination of an issue I had struggled with once I hit my 30s. Every single time my birthday rolled around, much to my own personal disappointment, I cried. On March 1st every year I, myself (and probably those dear to me) feared my day of birth. Then I hit my 40s. BAM! After years of feeling completely lame and ashamed of this behavior, I finally realized what was underneath it. I was quite simply incredibly afraid that I was not living the life / fulfilling the purpose I’d always dreamed of. Then suddenly, it just stopped. Just like that. Did I will it to do so? Perhaps. Has supposed age and wisdom brought some sort of acceptance, confidence and solidarity ? I damn hope so!
We all have our struggles. How we handle it is up to us. No matter one’s circumstances, we have all been in the same dirty 'ol bathtub at one point or another.
With the accompanying video, I really wanted to take my loves for the abstract, the absurd, and the vivid to tell the story of the struggle within. I am a child of the late 70s-- I watched MTV all day long and was a huge fan of videos with a narrative. Eh,em…. Motley Crüe, Ozzy, Madonna!”
